GWU Representation at US Ambassador's Conference
at CARI - 16Dec2015

With US Ambassador in Argentina, Mr. Noah Mamet

Celebrating 19 years of uninterrupted work with The George Washington University, I've been proud to represent #GWU once again, this time at US Ambassador's Conference at CARI (transcript of conference highlights).

Last wednesday, December 16th, at a conference held by the Argentine Council for International Relations -Consejo Argentino para las Relaciones Internacionales (CARI)-, in spanish), US Ambassador in Argentina, Mr. Noah Mamet, emphasized that Barack Obama government's expectations are targetted to deepen ties between the two countries after the change of national authorities locally. "We want a mature relationship. This does not mean that we will not always agree, but there will be dialogue", he said.

Mamet himself referred to the economic scenario, being appreciative of the first signs: "Macri and his team have created confidence not only in the US but also in financial markets; I am optimistic that he and his team will draw policies to attract foreign and local investments, which will create genuine jobs", adding "I am very optimistic that next year we will see a stronger Argentina".

The Ambassador also referred to the overall compromise reached last Saturday to combat global warming. "The agreement in Paris is a beautiful example of what the world can achieve with a strong political leadership". Also on that point he expressed his enthusiasm for the statements President Macri made about the topic.

"I am very optimistic that next year we will see a stronger and more vibrant Argentina, and a more productive and collaborative relationship with the US", he concluded.

Mamet's speech, moderated by political analyst Rosendo Fraga, was the closing lecture of CARI's US Committee.

During Mr. Mamet's  Conference there was room for a touch of humor...
